THE STATE OF PLAY

What is there
now.

Most towers in GIFT City carry a building cafeteria or food court as a standard amenity, the kind of on-site dining a modern SEZ tower is generally built with. That covers lunch reasonably well. It does not particularly cover a fast, specialty-grade cup at 9am or a second one at 3pm, because a shared building cafeteria is built for volume and variety across a whole meal, not for a coffee counter someone can walk up to between calls.

The nearer cafe options sit outside the SEZ perimeter, in Kudasan and the wider Gandhinagar area, a drive rather than a walk from most towers here. GIFT City's Central Park development also brings a larger public food court to the campus, which adds real dining variety over time. None of it is built around coffee specifically, and on a controlled-access campus, leaving the perimeter for a cup is a bigger ask than it would be on an open street. For a workforce running global hours, where a break does not always land at the same time the rest of Gujarat takes one, that gap is worth naming plainly rather than working around.

What a Pod
would change.

A P.S. Pod is small on purpose.

Fifty to two hundred square feet, a serious machine, specialty-grade beans, ground at every order, and a walk-up counter built for under ninety seconds. It asks little of a floor plan that a cafeteria concession would never fit into. No seating to manage, no dining room to staff, none of the footprint that usually makes coffee hard to justify inside a tower that already runs a cafeteria.

The point is not to replace lunch. It is to sit alongside it, doing the one thing a shared cafeteria was never built to do quickly: a proper cup, made to order, without a queue built for a different meal entirely.

When a Pod does open in GIFT City, it will sit in and around the places the working day already runs through: a tower lobby, a floor break-out area, the stretch between the SEZ gate and a building's own entrance. Given how access control works on this campus, that mostly means inside a building rather than on an open street corner, which is a real difference from how a Pod tends to sit elsewhere in Ahmedabad.

We are not naming a tower, a developer or a company here. No site is confirmed, and nothing on this page should be read as one.

A small addition
to the amenity mix.

If you manage a tower or campus here, a P.S. Pod is a small addition to an amenity mix that likely already includes a cafeteria and a food court, not competition for either. It needs a small footprint, no kitchen exhaust, and none of the operational load a full cafe would bring to a building that already runs on SEZ compliance and security. Several GCC and BFSI floors run overlapping international hours, which is exactly the pattern a Pod is built to serve without extending a cafeteria's own hours to match. If coffee inside your building is a gap your tenants have already raised, tell us about the space.

Also worth reading: coffee for offices and coffee for co-working spaces.
